ORANGEVALE, CA - There was a special party for some special workers in Orangevale, all in honor of 14 dearly loved pooches going off to "college."
The 14 assistance dogs have been raised by people and trained at an obedience school since the early age of 8 weeks -- and now, their basic training is finished.
The dogs are headed to additional training in Santa Rosa to hone their new skills. From flicking a light switch to picking up items such as small coins, these brainy pooches endure some rigorous training all for the benefit of helping others in need.
News 10 photojournalist Damien Espinoza attended what they called a "Big Dog Party."
