SACRAMENTO - The public cried out and the trustees listened. The result? A complete turnaround as far as school swaps, mergers and closures.
Sacramento City School Trustees were set to hear about plans to swap Hiram Johnson School West and Sacramento Charter High School on Thursday night. They have also backed off on plans to close and consolidate five elementary schools.
The plan would have saved the district almost $900,000.
Trustees said they handled the situation the wrong way. For the moment, they will hold off on any consolidation or closure decisions.
