Online social networking no longer restricts itself to the corners of Myspace and Facebook.
Once an exclusive counterpart for the youthful party-goers, social networking has now become an integral to business and communication. Sites like Twitter, offer what's known as a Microblog, a form of blogging that concentrates on a person-to-person connection, rather than sending a general message to the general public. Twitter audience as a whole largely consists of a diverse group of business professionals trying to keep connected not only with their consumers, but with their peers.
Taking advantage of this free resource is Ricardo Robles and Andy Arnott, Founders of SacTweetUp, the real-time fusion of Twitter and MeetUp.com. Robles and Arnott launched SacTweetUp to interact more closely within the professionals within their community as a way to induce commerce and growth in these trying economic times. Pangea Café, the first official meeting point of SacTweetUp, hosted the event to a large crowd in the middle of a rainy week in Curtis Park.
Business interests range from Internet based companies like Midtown Grid.com and to the Sacramento Zoo, providing a full spectrum of the needs online networking addresses.
By creating SacTweetUp, Robles and Arnott have taken a virtual landscape and translated into something tangible that yields proven results.
