The tradition among the local art enthusiasts. Every second weekend into the month brings forth a slew of new shows at various galleries across the Sacramento Area. One might think that the Midtown Section only receives attention from the area's refined patrons; however, Sacramento has proved itself to be more diverse than even the residents may know.
The Sacramento Fine Arts Center
A gallery in Carmichael that reaches out the Northern Sacramento artists who typically feel they are treated as hobbyists. By establishing their own identity through their unique shows and help from the Sacramento Arts and Business Council, the non-profit provides an outlet for those who otherwise wouldn't have one.
One of the crowning achievements in the ever-changing Oak Park By focusing on African-American artists throughout the nation, they hope to reach out the inner city urban population around them, and bring 2nd Saturday to an area desperately trying to revitalize itself.
Sacramento's Second Saturday Event is more than a day-a-month phenomena, it's a chance for our region's artist to reach the one audience that may have never known them before: Their neighbors.
