OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- An Occupy Oakland protester is facing charges that she kicked a police sergeant. Twenty-eight-year-old Stephanie McGarrah was among two people arrested on Saturday following a march. The Oakland Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/wfeUaQ) that she was charged this week with misdemeanor battery, resisting and obstructing arrest and violating probation. Authorities say McGarrah kicked Sgt. Roland Holmgren in the leg after Oakland police came to the aid of a California Highway Patrol officer who was surrounded by a group of angry protesters. Holmgren was not seriously injured. The second suspect, 35-year-old Matthew Henderson, was arrested after police say he tried to pull McGarrah away from police. He is facing an obstruction charge. Police say a third person struck a police sergeant in the head with a protest sign and ran. The sergeant wasn't injured.
