Anthony Bettanini
SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento police officers say they arrested a man Monday in connection with an apartment complex homicide on Norwood Avenue in which the victim may have been beaten to death.
Officer Konrad von Schoech says Anthony Bettanini, 49, was the roommate of the victim, who was found dead inside an apartment complex on the 3700 block of Norwood Avenue.
According to Von Schoech, Bettanini told officers he found his roommate on the ground when he arrived home before 2 a.m. Officers say the man ran over to his neighbor's apartment and called 911.
When officers arrived on scene, they found the victim, in his 50s, bloody and lying on the ground. Officers say it looks like the victim was beaten to death.
Von Schoech says detectives believe Bettanini and the victim were fighting when the argument turned violent. Based on evidence and information found at the scene, Von Schoech says Bettanini started beating the victim.
