Best RV Center and dealer Naiel Ammari are accused of charging customers an official-sounding "California Pre-Delivery Inspection Fee" of $750.

Best RV Center and dealer Naiel Ammari are accused of charging customers an official-sounding "California Pre-Delivery Inspection Fee" of $750.

"He's using the word 'California' and he's indicating it's a state requirement, which is not the case," DMV investigations Commander Raymond Brown said.

Brown said investigators seized at least 10 boxes of documents and the dealership's computer system. He said evidence indicates Best RV Center included the bogus fee in at least half of the center's transactions over the past year and a half.

"It's a $750 fee that he is arbitrarily adding on to the contract as an additional commission," Brown said.

News10 was alerted to the raid by a viewer and arrived at the dealership as investigators were wrapping up their search.

Brown said the DMV was pursuing a criminal complaint against Ammari, which could lead to a fine and license suspension or even revocation.  Ammari declined a request for comment.
