RANCHO CORDOVA, CA - Investigators have made an arrest in the death of a 22-year-old man who was shot early Saturday morning, according to authorities.
Sacramento Sheriff's deputies say they've arrested 19-year-old Issac Martinez at a friend's house on Ford Road in Sacramento. Martinez faces charges of homicide and participation in a criminal street gang.
The shooting happened around 4:45 a.m. at an apartment complex on the 3000 block of Laurelhurst Drive, said Sacramento County Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Tim Curran. Witnesses told deputies a heated argument between the victim identified as Damien Burkholder and another man was heard throughout the apartment complex followed by multiple gunshots, Curran said.
Burkholder was found lying on the ground in a walkway between two of the apartment buildings suffering from gunshot wounds, said Curran. Paramedics transported him to a local hospital where he died.
