Thunder Valley hotel, Lincoln
LINCOLN, CA - Thunder Valley announced plans Friday to hire 600 new employees to staff the new hotel and expanded casino.
A statement from the United Auburn Indian Community said one third of the new positions will be in the hotel and spa, with the rest going into casino operations. More than half the positions will be full time with benefits, according to the tribe, which said it hoped to complete the initial phase of hiring by May 15.
The current head count at Thunder Valley is roughly 1,400 full time and 600 part time employees.
Spokesman Doug Elmets said construction crews are on track to finish the 12-story hotel by July. Construction resumed early last year after a three-month hiatus, during which the expansion project was downsized to reflect the softening economy.
The high-rise features nine floors with 297 guest rooms and three floors of empty shell space that will be finished when demand dictates for a total room count of 400.
The expansion includes 42,500 square feet of new casino space plus a seven-story parking structure. The parking structure has already opened and the expanded casino floor will open April 1.
Thunder Valley said it would post a list of available positions on its Web site.
