RIO LINDA, CA - A Rio Linda motorcyclist was killed after the man collided with another vehicle and was thrown from his bike at a Rio Linda intersection, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Marcus McGuire of Rio Linda died at Mercy San Juan Medical Center following the crash on eastbound Elkhorn Boulevard west of 26th Street at 3:18 p.m. Monday, CHP spokeswoman Lizz Dutton said.
Dutton said McGuire, 20, was traveling westbound on Elkhorn approaching 26th when a black Honda Accord began to make a left turn on to 26th in the motorcycle's path.
McGuire's Suzuki GSXR 600 motorcycle hit the right front end of the Honda, throwing McGuire aproximately 100 feet.
McGuire was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, Dutton said.
The driver of the car, Mohad Ajmal, 33, of Elk Grove was not injured.
Dutton said drugs and alcohol did not appear to play a role in the collision and the cause of the crash was under investigation.
