MODESTO, CA - Modesto police have identified the two men killed in an early Monday drive-by shooting.
Mark Ochoa, 19, of Ceres and Christopher Diaz, 20, of Modesto were gunned down in what investigators say was a gang-related shooting.
Neighbors called police after hearing gunshots being fired on the 2600 block of Maxine Drive around midnight, said Sgt. Brian Findlen with the Modesto Police Department.
Officers arrived on scene to find Ochoa and Diaz suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men died on scene, according to authorities.
The suspected gunmen led officers on a brief high-speed chase from the shooting scene, Findlen said. Shots were fired at officers from the pick-up truck, Findlen said. He said no officers were hit.
A SWAT team was on scene as well as officials from the Modesto Police Department, Stanislaus County and San Joaquin County sheriff's departments. Officers arrested the driver of the pick-up and after a search, three others suspected of involvement were found hiding in backyards, said Findlen.
Eric Arguello, 18, of Modesto; Victor Zapien, 21 of Modesto; Kelly Valle, 25, of Ceres and David Ferrel, 30, of Ceres were booked into custody on two counts of murder, attempted murder of a police officer, and use of a firearm causing great bodily injury.
