For so many Northern California natives being on the water is the only place to be for the 4th of July. Taking out the boats, jet-skiis, tubing, kayaking and more, Sacramento is known as the river city for a reason. We're fortunate to have so many waterways to enjoy, but there are safety precautions to heed before setting a drift on any body of water.
Don't let holiday fun, turn to tragedy, be smart and wear a life jacket no matter what you're doing out on the water. There are many options based on the type of activity you're a part of. Boating Education Coordinator for the California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways, Melissa Miranda, spoke with our host Mellisa Paul, about how easy it is to prevent accidents on the water with the right safety gear. She even brought a model with her to demonstrate some of the newest technology in life-jackets.
