STOCKTON - A young girl escaped after being held captive by a man in a Stockton home for several days, according to police.
Stockton police spokesman Joe Silva said the 14 year old met 39-year-old Thornton Cooley who allowed her to stay at his home. However, when she tried to leave, Cooley dragged her back into the home by her hair and beat her.
On Monday morning, the girl managed to escape after being held captive for three to four days in Cooley's property on the 700 block of N. Airport Way, Silva said.
Once out, the girl called her mother for help.
According to a police report, officers arrested Cooley at the property around 10:17 a.m. Cooley was in possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia at the time. He was arrested on charges of kidnapping and drug possession.
