Modesto police detectives believe they have found the body of a man who was reported missing last month and have a suspect for the man's murder.

Police spokesperson Officer Heather Graves said officers began looking into the disappearance of the 56-year-old man on Dec. 25. The man's name was not being released at this time.

The investigation led police to the 1800 block of Broyles Road Thursday morning where the body of a man was discovered in a shallow grave. A positive identification of the body was pending, but Graves said the body appears to be that of the man who disappeared.

Detectives did not say what led them to a suspect in the disappearance, but Marion Beltran, 28, of Modesto, was arrested and booked into Stanislaus County Jail on suspicion of murdering the man.

Citizens with any information regarding this case were urged to share it with Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
