SACRAMENTO - An opportunistic crook made off with a car and two surprises in the back seat while a man was gassing up in Sacramento Saturday night, police say.
Sacramento police reports stated the man left his keys and two small children in the car while he went to pay for gas at a station on the 6600 block of Mack Rd. around 10:47 p.m. While doing so, an individual jumped into the driver's seat and drove away.
Police say the thief must have suddenly realized there were children in the car and abandoned the vehicle only 20 yards from the pump where he fled on foot.
The suspected thief was described as 5'10" tall, 200 pounds and of unknown race. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt and pants.
