Responders administer aid to driver in wreck on I-5 near Natomas.
SACRAMENTO - A police pursuit along Interstate 5 came to a sudden stop Friday morning when the driver of the fleeing vehicle wrecked near Natomas.
According to Officer Doug Morse of the Sacramento Police Department, the pursuit started after police responded to a call of a stabbing on N. Richards Boulevard.
Morse said the suspect, described as an Hispanic man from the Fresno area, had stabbed a person, stolen his truck and left him at the scene.
Officers located the truck and a high-speed pursuit ensued along the northbound side of I-5 until the driver lost control and wrecked near the Interstate 80 interchange, Morse detailed.
The driver of the truck was treated at the scene then transported to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries. He faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery, carjacking and being involved in a high-speed chase, Morse said.
The man who was stabbed was also taken to the hospital for treatment.
