SACRAMENTO - Three people have died in Stanislaus County after contracting the flu, says a county public health official.
One and possibly two of the deaths were from the H1N1 (swine) flu strain, Trudi Prevette, a nurse with the Stanislaus County Health Services Agency, said.
Since flu season began last fall, county health is aware of seven patients admitted to hospital intensive care units with the flu, with five being diagnosed with H1N1, Prevette said.
Two of the patients who died were ages 61 and 75. Prevette said one of them had H1N1.
Last week, Sacramento County public health reported a 61-year-old woman was its first death from complications from the flu this season.
