A man was wounded in a south Sacramento drive-by shooting while walking through the area on Saturday afternoon.
The man was taken to UC Davis Medical Center to get treatment for non-life threatening injuries. The Sacramento Police Department has not released his name.
Officers got reports of gunshots at the intersection of 37th Street and 7th Avenue around noon, police said. The man was walking in the area when a car pulled up in front of him. Police said a "couple of guys" got out of the car, fired multiple shots at the victim and then drove away from the area. The man was hit once.
Residents told police they heard a "burst" of gunshots and saw a maroon Chevy 4-door Malibu drive away from the scene. There was no description of the suspects.
Police closed the intersection to process the scene. Officers said it is unclear if the shooting is gang related and continued to investigate.
