Moses Galang was clinging to life for nearly four days after he was run over by two vehicles near Bruceville Road and Cosumnes River Boulevard before he died Thursday.
Moses and a friend were crossing the intersection around 5:30 p.m. on Monday when the 11-year-old boy was hit by the first car. The driver stopped and pulled over. Moments later, Moses was hit by another vehicle, but that driver kept driving.
The boy was taken to the hospital to get treatment for critical injuries. But on Friday, the Sacramento County Coroner's Office said the boy died Thursday.
Moses' friend was able to make it across the road safely.
Neighbors in the area said the intersection of Bruceville Road and Cosumnes River Boulevard is dangerous.
"It's so sad, but it's not that surprising to me considering how busy the intersection really is," said Jessica Hopkins, who lives near the scene of the crash.
Police have received a few leads in the search for the driver of the second vehicle, but have not made any arrests. They are looking for a white or light colored late 1970s or early 1980s Ford or Chevy full-size van with a raised roof cap. So far, there's no description of the driver.
Witnesses said the van drove right over the 11-year-old boy before continuing east on Cosumnes River Boulevard.
