SACRAMENTO - A North Highlands man was sentenced 60 years to life in prison Thursday for the murder of his estranged wife two years ago.
Daniel Weddle, 50, was convicted by jury of first degree murder, use of a firearm and assault charges in the fatal shooting of Margaret Weddle, 46 on Dec. 1, 2011.
According to court records, Weddle had gone to the victim's apartment because she wanted to talk to him about some missing belongings. The victim's roommate was also present.
While at the apartment, Weddle saw divorce paperwork and became infuriated, according to testimony. He went into a bedroom, got a handgun and pointed it at the roommate as leverage to make his wife sit down. He then shot her six times.
