DAVIS, Calif. - Police say someone deliberately set a gas leak inside of a home and investigators are working to determine why.
Davis police were called out to the Kappa Sigma Fraternity home in the 600 block of Adams Street on Sunday regarding a delayed report of attempted arson.
When officers arrived they were informed that at 1 a.m. Sunday, residents detected a strong smell of natural gas filing the home. The residents discovered that someone had intentionally created the leak and shortly after found evidence that shows someone ignited a fire inside the home, attempting to ignite the gas.
It has not been determined who is responsible for the leak and fire.
Davis Police encourage all fraternity and sororities and other groups to report any suspicious activity immediately.
The Police Department says they will have additional officers in the area tonight.
