ORANGEVALE, CA - A woman was abducted and sexually assaulted as she left the parking lot of a Wal-mart in Orangevale Wednesday night.
Joseph Lee Bonderer, 34, of Orangevale, was arrested for the attack, said Sgt. Lisa Bowman with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.
The woman told deputies as she was leaving the store's parking lot located on the 8900 block of Greenback Lane at approximately 10:50 Wednesday night, a man she didn't know jumped into her car, told her he had a gun and ordered her to drive out of the lot, Bowman said.
Scared, the woman complied, driving to a nearby location where the suspect allegedly raped her.
Then the man ordered her to drive back to the Wal-mart lot where he got out of her car and fled.
Detectives interviewed witnesses and arrested Bonderer. He was booked into Sacramento County Jail Thursday.
The sheriff's department urged the public to be aware and alert to surroundings at all times and take precautions.
In situations such as this, parking in a well-lighted area, asking for a store escort to one's vehicle at night and having car keys ready are good tips.
