SACRAMENTO - What was supposed to be a night of fun ended in death and injury early Sunday morning.
A group of people were exiting a studio rented out for a Halloween event when a vehicle drove by southward on Del Paso Blvd. and opened fire around 1:30 a.m. Six people were struck by bullets, one of whom died, and a seventh person was hit with shrapnel, said Sacramento police.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene on the 1800 block of Del Paso Blvd. shortly afterward.
The six gunshot victims, only described as being in their 20s and 30s, were either transported via ambulance or received rides to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening wounds, said police.
The man who was killed, 29-year-old Keylen Jeff Ellis of Fairfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman who was struck by shrapnel, transported herself to the hospital for treatment.
