YUBA COUNTY, Calif. - Less than three hours after a bicyclist was killed in a collision with a vehicle in Carmichael, a second cyclist died after being hit by a car in Yuba County.
According to Jodie Beck of the California Highway Patrol, the 45-year-old man was riding his mountain bike southbound on Simpson Ln. south of 10th St. around 10:37 p.m. when a man driving a Mitsubishi Outlander in the same direction struck him. The bicyclist was thrown from his bike in the impact and sustained fatal injuries.

The cyclist was not wearing a helmet and had no functioning lights on his bike at the time of the collision, said Beck.
Officials continue to investigate the case to determine the cause of the crash.
