SACRAMENTO - A bicyclist was killed Monday morning in a collision with a vehicle on Stockton Boulevard.
Officer Michael Bradley of the California Highway Patrol said the 59-year-old cyclist was traveling northbound in the area of Stockton Blvd. and Elsie Ave. around 6:25 a.m. when he turned into the path of a woman driving a Chevy Tahoe in the same direction. The driver hit the brakes but was unable to avoid hitting the cyclist.
The man, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, was launched from his bicycle into the roadway.
Responding emergency personnel transported the cyclist to hospital where he died from major head trauma suffered in the crash.
