BERRY CREEK, CA - The Butte County Interagency Bomb squad was called to Berry Creek on Saturday after a resident reported seeing a pipe bomb along Webster Road.
A Butte County Sheriff's official said a small length of PVC pipe with caps on both ends and nails or screws secured to the outside portion of the pipe. There was also a hole that contained what appeared to be a burnt-down fuse on one end of the cap.
The bomb squad inspected the area and rendered the device safe. They also determined that the pipe contained black powder and additional nails and screws.
Officials have no information on who may have left the pipe there.
