WINTERS, Calif. - A large hay fire that began late Thursday night in Winters continued burning into the morning hours on Friday.
The fire was reported around 11:30 p.m. at the Hay Kingdom hay exporting company.
As of Friday morning, the fire had consumed about 10 acres of stored hay.
Heavy smoke from the fire blanketed a section of nearby I-505, making visibility poor in the area, but the highway remained open.
The city of Davis notified residents that a shift in the wind direction would likely blow smoke into the area and for those sensitive to air quality conditions to take that into consideration in their activities.
Firefighters say the blaze could burn for several more days.
