OAKDALE, Calif. - A 48-year-old substitute teacher for the Oakdale Joint Unified School District turned himself into authorities Tuesday morning following allegations of inappropriate contact with students, say police.
Bryan Theis of Modesto surrendered at the Oakdale Police Department after his lawyer was notified police were looking for the substitute teacher. Cloverland Elementary School principal Larry Bonds told police five students - girls - ranging from 10 to 11 years old accused Theis of touching them inappropriately in class on Aug. 29, said Police Chief Lester Jenkins.
Theis was arrested Tuesday on felony charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14, and misdemeanor charges for annoying and molesting a child under the age of 18.
Jenkins said Theis has substituted for other school districts, but did not disclose which districts.
