WOODLAND, CA - A man charged with beating a gay Davis man last March entered a no contest plea to felony battery with serious bodily injury with a hate crime enhancement in Yolo Superior Court Tuesday.

In exchange for the plea and a five-year prison sentence, the Yolo County District Attorney's Office dropped felony assault charges against Clayton Garzon.

Garzon was accused of attacking Mikey Partida early the morning of March 10 as Partida left his birthday party. Partida and a witness told authorities Garzon repeatedly shouted gay slurs during the beating. Partida was hospitalized for several days.
