Sheriff: Marijuana crop raided on U Street in Rio Linda, Sept. 11, 2013
RIO LINDA, CA - Two marijuana grows in Rio Linda were raided Wednesday morning by Sacramento County sheriff's deputies.
According to sheriff's Sgt. Jason Ramos, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District estimated about $87,000 worth of electricity had been used and not paid for at the pot plot on the 1900 block of E Street. It was also a hazard because of "junk" covering the location, according to Ramos.
Arrested at the site was Eric Rinehart on suspicion of cultivation of marijuana, unlawful possession of a firearm while in the commission of a felony, and for unauthorized diversion of utility services (electricity theft).
Deputies weren't done. They served a second search warrant at two adjacent residences on U Street with a well-tended marijuana garden in between them with about 100 plants, Ramos said. Seven people were arrested in conjunction with that find: Pranee Arend, Lalita Thaukhao; Kesorn Khajornfung; Cherdchai Kardbanjong; Noppanet Hemmanee; Tavicha Hemmanee and Sarn Saepharn. Saepharn also faces an allegation of being armed with a firearm in the commission of a felony.
