ROCKLIN, CA - A man was found dead inside a Rocklin home after a police standoff Wednesday night.
Rocklin police responded to the home on the 1700 block of Piute Street, near Clipper Court, after getting calls of a domestic violence incident around 4:17 p.m., Rocklin Police Capt. Chad Butler said.
Witnesses said the man pointed a handgun at a woman. Fortunately, the woman was able to run away from the house while the man barricaded himself in the house. She was unharmed and is now safe.
Butler said a perimeter was set up and voluntary evacuations were encouraged for homes in the immediate area when officers first arrived at the scene.
SWAT and hostage negotiators were called to the scene and tried to talk to the man. Butler said after several hours, SWAT entered and searched the home. They found a man in his 60s dead; a handgun was also found inside.
Butler said the Placer County Coroner will release the man's name and cause of death.
