SACRAMENTO, CA - A toddler was taken into child protective services after her mother was arrested Friday afternoon.
Officers responded to S and 18th streets around 3:43 p.m. after getting reports of a woman asleep at the wheel of a parked truck with a 3-year-old girl in the passenger seat, Sacramento police said.
When officers arrived at the scene, the driver, 27-year-old Teig Belson-Hekkala, was awake. Inside of the truck, police found drugs and drug paraphernalia within reach of the little girl, police said.
Belson-Hekkala was taken into custody for drug possession and felony child endangerment.
The 3-year-old girl was placed into protective custody and taken to the Children's Receiving Home.
