STOCKTON, CA - A gun was fired inside of a downtown Stockton movie theater late Friday night, Stockton police said.

A manager at the Regal City Centre Stadium 16, at 222 N. El Dorado Street, told police people ran out of a theater and heard one person yell, "Someone shot a gun." The shooting happened sometime between 10:45 p.m. and midnight.

The manager said 23 people were in the theater at the time of the shooting.

After movie goers ran out, the manager searched the theater and found a .25 caliber shell casing on the floor. The manager did not find any victims or signs that someone was shot.

Police said the manager did not report the shooting until Saturday morning.

"There is no indication that this was anything more that an isolated incident, possibly even just an accidental discharge," Stockton Police Officer Joe Silva said.

No suspect information was available.
