Family disturbance leads to fatal Citrus Heights shooting

CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA - Police investigate a homicide at a south Citrus Heights neighborhood Friday night.

Citrus Heights police responded to a home on the 7600 block of Kensington Drive, near Mariposa Avenue, around 8:30 p.m. after getting reports of a shooting, Officer Bryan Fritsch said.

When police arrived at the home, they found a man with a gunshot wound; Fritsch said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect was also found at the scene and then taken into custody, Fritsch said.

Investigators believe the shooting is related to a family disturbance. It is unclear what lead up to the disturbance or how the victim and the suspect are related.

Fritsch said detectives are at the crime scene and continue to investigate the homicide.
