SACRAMENTO, CA - More people found work in California in June, helping to extend the decline in the state's jobless rate.

The unemployment rate dipped to 8.5 percent last month compared to 8.6 percent in May.

In June, 2012, the jobless rate was 10.6 percent.

The California Employment Development Department said there was a net gain of 30,200 jobs in June. The hiring was in the categories of mining and logging; manufacturing; trade, transportation and utilities; educational and health services; and leisure and hospitality.

The unemployment/jobs figures were compiled from a survey of 42,000 California businesses and a federal survey of 5,500 California households.
