SACRAMENTO, CA - Sacramento police detectives are looking into whether the girlfriend-boyfriend suspects in the robbery/murder of a man on Sunday have any connection to other robbery cases.

According to detectives, Reshay Tiara Mott, 19, arranged a meeting with the 49-year-old victim with the intent her boyfriend, Elliton Jay-Twan Varnado would then rob him. The meet was set up for early Sunday morning at an apartment complex on the 5100 block of Mack Road. There was a fight when Varnado confronted the victim and someone pulled a gun and fired it.

The victim was found shot in the upper body and not breathing at the bottom of a stairwell near the apartment parking lot when first responders arrived, officers reported. Efforts to save him were not successful. His name has not been released.

Mott and Varnado were arrested Monday evening at the Stonegate Apartments a few blocks away from the shooting. Their photographs were not being released at this time as detectives continued their investigation.
