Car of interest described in I-5 fatal hit and run

YOLO COUNTY, CA - California Highway Patrol investigators now have more information on the possible vehicle that struck and killed a woman running across Interstate 5 without stopping last Friday.

Officer Bryan Konvalin says investigators were looking for a brownish 1998 Buick Park Avenue, California license place number 6VIM118. It may have been recently sold to a salvage or tow company.

Konvalin said the victim, 17-year-old Claudia Marie Gonzalez of Woodland, was a passenger in a 2001 Chevrolet Impala traveling on northbound I-5. The driver of the Impala stopped along the freeway north of County Road 103 and Gonzalez ran across the northbound lanes where she was hit by a car. It was  12:34 a.m. She died from her injuries at the scene.
