SACRAMENTO, CA - One person was killed and two others injured when a car collided with a tree in the Greenhaven area Monday morning.
Sacramento police received a call shortly after 2 a.m. when a car heading south on Riverside Boulevard rounded the corner at 43rd Avenue, lost control of the vehicle and ran into a tree, said officers on scene.
A small vehicle fire broke out as a result of the collision but Sacramento firefighters arrived quickly and doused the flames, police said.
Responding personnel declared one of the passengers deceased at the scene. The driver and a second passenger were taken to the hospital. One was in critical condition and the other stable, said police.
Police did not confirm which of the people was in critical condition.
Investigators were still working to determine what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
