PATTERSON, CA - Detectives continue to look for a man they say is a suspect in a kidnapping for ransom and beating that took place last Saturday.

The victim was kidnapped from his home in rural Stanislaus County and taken to the 600 block of Spooner Court in Patterson, according to Stanislaus County sheriff's investigators. There, several men assaulted him over a nine-hour period.

The sheriff's department learned of the incident when they received a 911 call saying the assailants demanded $800 in exchange for freeing the victim. As they investigated, detectives found out the kidnappers took the man and demanded money from his family because the kidnappers believed he had stolen property from them.

At some point while being held, the victim was allowed to leave the residence Saturday night and deputies and detectives took him into protective custody.

As officers surrounded the Spooner Court residence, several men left and were arrested.

Jonathan Figueroa, 22 of Modesto, was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, conspiracy by a person involved in gang activity and criminal gang activity.

Additionally, Adan Esquivel, 22, of Patterson, was arrested as was Arturo Martinez, 20, of Modesto. The sheriff's department did not specify the jail booking charges for Esquivel and Martinez.

Bail was set at $100,000 for Figueroa.

One suspect has eluded law enforcement. He is Victor "Cuate" Sandoval, 21, of Patterson.
