Tyler Price holds up his special award from his Karate class, a "hero" belt.
EL DORADO HILLS, CA - A 6-year-old boy from El Dorado Hills was in the right place at the right time. Now, friends and family are calling him a hero for saving the life of a toddler.
According to Tyler Price and his mother Stacey, who was sitting nearby, a 1-year-old girl ran from the pool area at El Dorado Hills Sports Club and jumped into the center of the hot tub Wednesday morning.
The girl's mother was just a few feet a way, busy looking after another child.
Tyler, who was already in the hot tub, grabbed the girl.
"I picked her up and put her on the side, and she walked over to the stairs and her mother took her out," Tyler explained.
"Tyler was able to handle the baby and take care of it on his own and stay very calm," Tyler's mom Stacey said.
The little girl's mother quickly thanked Tyler and then took off.
Later in the day though, Tyler got a special award in his Karate class, a "hero" belt.
Tyler is on the right track, following in his dad's footsteps. He said he wants to grow up and be a fire fighter, saving lives just like his dad.
