STOCKTON, Calif. - A store employee turned the tables on a devious duo during an armed robbery in Stockton Thursday night, say police.
According to Stockton police reports, Jermey Lovitt, 23, and Gabriel Gonzales, 19, entered a business on the 4800 block of S. State Route 99 Frontage Road at 9:42 p.m. brandishing handguns. The two jumped the counter and one of them forced an employee to empty a register while the other approached the manager and ordered her to open the safe.
As Lovitt and Gonzales were focused on the the robbery, an employee ran out of the business, jumped into the suspects' awaiting getaway car and drove away, said police.
When Lovitt and Gonzales ran out of the store, their vehicle was nowhere to be found. The pair were then forced to flee on foot into a nearby field and were caught shortly thereafter with the money from the robbery, police said.
Lovitt and Gonzales were arrested at the scene.
