TRACY, CA - Josh Jones of Tracy doesn't have long to live because of cancer, and he wanted to make sure he saw his beloved Dodgers in San Francisco one more time.
His dad wanted him to meet star oputfielder Matt Kemp, too.
"He (a coach) came out and gave me a 'thumbs up' with a big smile on his face. Wow, it's really gonna happen," said Steve Jones.
But what happened wasn't a routine handshake or ball-signing. Kemp handed over his hat, his jersey, and his shoes as well. Josh was stunned.
"I'll definitely remember it forever -- a once-in-a-lifetime experience," said Josh.
Josh loves wearing the Kemp jersey, and it hasn't been cleaned yet. Kemp's hat is another story.
"His hat was kind of sweaty. I didn't want to put that on," he said.
The whole exchange was caught on the camera of Josh's friend, and it's been clicked on more than 300,000 times on YouTube.
Josh hopes other young people suffering from cancer get this message:
"All those kids who have cancer: Stay strong and live life to the fullest," he said.
