Stockton police work to disarm pipe bomb

STOCKTON, CA - A man was injured after an explosion in the parking lot of a Stockton motel Tuesday night.

Stockton police responded to the Stockton City Motel on 1022 S. Wilson Way around 9:30 p.m. after getting a call about hearing gunshots or a bomb exploding, Lt. Eric Kane said.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man suffering from minor injuries from a small explosion in the parking lot. Officers also found a pipe bomb in the vehicle the man was in.

Kane said an EOD team responded to the scene and were in the process of trying to disarm the device as of 12:05 a.m.

The team was expected to be on the scene for a couple of hours. Kane said there were no evacuations.
