OAKLAND, CA (AP) - Police say activists protesting capitalism broke windows and vandalized ATMs at several banks in downtown Oakland.

Oakland police say no one was arrested and no injuries were reported after a protest march turned violent Friday night.

The Oakland Tribune reports about 50 protesters caused damage at the branches of several banks, including Bank of America, California Bank & Trust, Chase Bank, Union Bank and Wells Fargo Bank.

The newspaper says the protesters also shattered a window pane at the landmark Tribune Tower, the former home of the Oakland Tribune.

The protest was billed as an "Anti-Capitalist Rally & March Against Police Repression" and was organized by the Bay Area Radical Action Committee.
