LINCOLN, CA - A Roseville man walking along Industrial Avenue Thursday night was struck and killed by a car.
It wasn't known why Candido Perez Jr., 33, was walking in the southbound lane of Industrial south of Athens Avenue at approximately 10:12 p.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer David Martinez. The driver of a blue Honda Civic traveling about 55 mph swerved to try to avoid Perez but was unable to, Martinez said. Paramedics pronounced Perez dead at the scene.
Martinez said the driver of the Honda, Kaitlin Bailey, 20, of Citrus Height,s was determined to not be under the influence of any alcohol or drugs.
The Placer County coroner would be conducting toxicology tests on Perez when performing his autopsy, according to Martinez.
