STOCKTON, Calif. - A woman was injured while trying to stop a man from stealing her car from in front of her Stockton apartment Friday morning.
Pete Gomez, the manager of the gated complex in which the victim lived, said the woman turned her car on to warm it up and went back inside her apartment. When she came back out, she found a man inside her vehicle.
In an attempt to prevent the theft, the woman jumped on the hood of the car but rolled off as the man drove away, said Gomez.
Emergency personnel responded at about 6:30 a.m. and transported the woman to a nearby hospital. Her condition was not revealed, but Gomez said she was conscious when taken from the scene.
Police officers located the stolen vehicle and suspect Rhyan Mitchell, 18, at approximately 9:01 a.m.. The police report said Mitchell was arrested on suspicion of carjacking and for several warrants.
