SACRAMENTO, CA - One person has died in a fiery solo-car wreck on southbound Highway 99 in Sacramento.
A gold-colored Mercedes C320 crashed into the highway guardrail, overturned, hit the soundwall and burst into flames just south of the eastbound 47th Avenue off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver, believed to be a woman, was dead, the CHP reported.
Witnesses told officers they may have seen a second person in the car but that turned out to not be the case, said Officer Michael Bradley.
The number 4 and 5 lanes were blocked. There was no estimated time when they would re-open.
The crash was first reported at about 2:11 p.m.
