CERES, Calif. - Three men were killed in a wreck between a semi truck and a Cadillac on Highway 99 in Ceres Monday morning.
The crash occurred near the S. Whitmore Avenue offramp around 6:25 a.m according to California Highway Patrol reports.
The driver of the semi told CHP officers he was traveling at about 57 mph when came upon the Cadillac that had stopped or slowed due to an apparent mechanical problem.
The truck then slammed into the back of the car, caving in the entire rear half of the Cadillac and forcing the truck off the highway and down an embankment.
According to officers, six men were inside the Cadillac. Three men who were sitting in the rear seat of the car were killed in the wreck. No update was provided on the condition of the other three men in the car.
The driver of the semi truck was not injured.
The number three and four lanes were closed following the crash, and could be closed through noon, officers said.
