Apartment on Stacey Court in Stockton burned in early morning fire.

STOCKTON, Calif. - Stockton firefighters are trying to determine what started an apartment fire that displaced a mother and her two children Monday morning.

Firefighters were called to 9021 Stacey Court around 2 a.m. after the fire broke out in an upstairs bedroom of the unit.

The mother, her daughter and teenage son were able to escape the fire, but the boy was burned while removing his mattress from the residence, said firefighters.

The boy was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The apartment was destroyed in the fire and two adjacent units were evacuated during containment efforts.
