STOCKTON, CA - The family of a special needs girl who was molested by her Lodi Unified School District bus driver has settled with the district for $4,750,000, it was announced Tuesday.

Last week, a Stockton Superior Court civil trial jury found the district 90 percent liable for hiring convicted sex offender Richard Dale Evans. Evans, now 61, had a 2000 conviction for sex with a prostitute in his delivery truck.

Evans' sexual abuse of the then 8-year-old girl in 2010 was captured on the school bus camera. Evans pled guilty to molestation, kidnapping and special allegation charges in June 2011 and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
